ABSTRACT

Given its extensive line of research, the Research Unit on Behavioral Interventions (RUBI) Autism Network RUBI program can now be considered an empirically supported treatment for parents of children with ASD and disruptive behavior. It is now ready for wider implementation. Two potential expansions of RUBI is delivery of the intervention via telehealth and in a group format. Both group and telehealth delivery of RUBI increase patient access to an evidenced-based intervention while also potentially being more cost-effective than one-on-one delivery. Group PT could also confer the added benefit of social support for the participating parents. This workshop describes efforts to extend RUBI via telehealth and group delivery, including modifications required to successfully deliver the program in these formats.

Target Audience: Professionals for whom the topic is within their scope of practice. The audiences that attended our live workshops since 2019 have include behavior analysts at the Master and Doctoral Degree level, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, certified counselors, social workers, teachers, SLPs, and more. We offer a wide range of continuing education credit opportunities for interested professionals.  We welcome students and others who are also interested in the topic to join us.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify current research findings on group and telehealth-based delivery of interventions for youth with ASD
• Identify common barriers to implementing RUBI in group and telehealth formats
